The new album named Nightingale in a town by The Second Hand Band is a forth album by this group. It took them almost two years to accomplish their new work before it is ready to be introduced to the sophisticated public.

An interesting way of mixing various acoustic instruments with a mass of electronics is a blueprint of this band. You will hear tabla and vibes, guitars and sitar, trumpet and harmonica with a quite slow, about 100 bpm, beat and mellow singing. It’s obviously night music. The effect after listening is harmonizing and tranquil. It puts you deep into the state of peace and calmness as the dub, trip-hop and down-tempo music should do.

The band has started in the beginning of the present century. Its founder - Dubchairman can name a long list of various music projects he took part in. It was raggae, dub, ambient, minimal techno and so forth. Many of his works are the remixes on the classical Russian singers like Vertinsky, Bernes etc. Then it was a coincidence that a well-known Moscow band “Detsky Panadol” failed to exist and three its members joined Dubchairman with his Second Hand Band. It was a new turn in the direction - from electronics to more live sound, to more singing and more experimenting with various instruments.
In the spring 2005 the SHB was named the Best Lounge Band in Russia by Cafe Del Mar on the annual lounge festival in Moscow . The SHB gave a concert in the legendary Cafe Del Mar in August. The first European show took place in Spanish Empurio Brava in Mediterranean under the gentle summer sun and with friendly audience.
SHB are four: Dubchairman on the guitars and electronics, he is the main conductor of the band. Rovny is on the bass , acoustic guitar and electronics. He makes lots of programming and arrangements together with Dubchairman. Aura – singing and playing ethnic instruments and harmonica and writing most of the lyrics. Nail – the electric guitar and drum programming. All of them are also singing the back-vocals. |
